Heating & Air

24/7 Emergency AC & Heating Service

Some HVAC failures can wait for an appointment. Others genuinely cannot — a house with no cooling during a heat wave becomes dangerous quickly for infants, older adults and anyone with a health condition, and the same is true in reverse during a hard freeze.

We answer 24/7, and a real person picks up. Kari or one of our technicians will talk through what is happening, tell you what to check and what to shut off, and give you a straight answer about arrival rather than a vague window.

There are also failures where the right first step is switching the system off and calling — burning smells, a carbon monoxide alarm, or the smell of gas. This page covers what to do in each case.

Know the signs

When you need emergency HVAC

The symptoms homeowners actually describe when they call us — and what each one usually means.

No cooling during extreme heat

With vulnerable people in the house this is urgent, not inconvenient. Get to a cooler space if you can, keep hydrated, close blinds on sun-facing windows, and call.

No heat during a freeze

A house losing heat in a hard freeze risks both the occupants and the plumbing. Frozen and burst pipes follow a heating failure surprisingly fast.

A burning or electrical smell

Shut the system off at the thermostat and at the breaker, then call. Do not run it while you wait to see if the smell clears.

A carbon monoxide alarm

Get everyone out of the house and call the fire department first. Do not go back in to investigate. Once the property is cleared, we will diagnose the combustion side.

The smell of gas

Leave immediately without touching switches or using a phone indoors. Call the gas utility from outside, then call us.

Water pouring from the indoor unit

Usually a blocked condensate drain overflowing the pan. Shut the system off at the thermostat to stop it producing more water, and call. Left running it will damage ceilings.

How we work

What actually happens on the job

No mystery, no vague diagnosis. Here is the sequence we follow every time.

01

A real person answers

Not a call center taking a message. We will ask what the system is doing, walk you through anything worth checking, and be straight with you about when we can be there.

02

Triage before we arrive

Sometimes the fix is something you can do in two minutes — a tripped breaker, a float switch, a thermostat setting, a full filter. We would rather tell you that on the phone than charge you to come and do it.

03

Stabilize the situation first

On arrival, priority one is stopping any active damage — water overflowing, a system running unsafely — and then restoring function.

04

Get you running, then plan properly

The goal at 2 a.m. is a working house. Anything that warrants a larger decision gets discussed in daylight with real numbers, not in the middle of a crisis.

North Texas specifics

Why the region books out exactly when you need someone

North Texas has two moments each year when every HVAC company in the metro is at capacity simultaneously: the first sustained triple-digit stretch of summer, and the first hard freeze of winter. Equipment across the entire region is asked to perform at the same instant, and the marginal units all fail together. That is why response time matters more here than the hourly rate — a company that cannot get to you for four days during a heat wave is not really available. Being family-owned and based in Rockwall is the practical reason we can answer at 2 a.m.: the phone goes to us, not to a dispatch service, and our trucks are staged locally rather than crossing the metro. It is also why we push the seasonal maintenance conversation so hard, because the cheapest emergency call is the one that never happens.

What it costs

Straight talk on pricing

We tell you the after-hours rate before we dispatch, so nothing on the invoice is a surprise. If what you are describing can wait until morning at a lower cost, we will say so — plenty of calls we take at midnight end with an honest "shut it off, you are not making it worse, and we will be there first thing." Emergency work is priced for the hour, not for the desperation.

FAQ

Emergency HVAC questions we get asked

What counts as an HVAC emergency?

No cooling during extreme heat or no heat during a freeze, particularly with infants, elderly family members or anyone with a medical condition in the house. Also: any burning or electrical smell, a carbon monoxide alarm, the smell of gas, or water actively pouring from the indoor unit. If you are unsure, call and describe it — we will tell you honestly whether it can wait.

What can I check myself before calling?

Four things, and they resolve more calls than you would think. Check the breaker for both the indoor and outdoor units. Check the filter — a completely loaded filter can freeze a coil and stop cooling entirely. Check that the thermostat is set correctly and has power. And check the emergency float switch near the indoor unit, which shuts the system down when the condensate pan fills. If one of those is the answer, we will happily tell you over the phone.

My AC quit and it is 105° outside. How fast can you get here?

It depends on where you are and what the day looks like — during a metro-wide heat event, every company is stretched. What we will do is give you a real answer rather than a soft promise. Rockwall, Rowlett, Heath and Fate are typically fastest for us since our trucks are based in Rockwall. We will also tell you what to do in the meantime to keep the house as tolerable as possible.

Is it cheaper to wait until morning?

Usually, and we will tell you when waiting is safe. What we will not do is talk you into waiting when there are vulnerable people in a house without cooling in August, or when a system is doing active damage. Water pouring through a ceiling and a possible combustion problem are both worse to sleep on than to pay for.
