Two identical-looking homes on the same street can need different equipment. Anyone who quotes you a tonnage over the phone based on square footage alone is guessing.
Is a higher SEER rating worth the extra cost?
Sometimes, and it depends on how long you will be in the house and how much you run the system. In a climate with our cooling season, the run hours are high enough that efficiency differences show up on bills in a way they would not further north. Should I replace the furnace at the same time?
